How We Do It
We purchase the majority of our food from the Houston Food Bank and the Galveston County Food Bank (Gleanings from the Harvest). Wundell Deats and Cecil Henry have been driving our box truck or van to the Food Banks weekly to pick up our ordered food and our “free” food that is there when they go to pick up the ordered food. Usually the “free” food is trays of bread, soda, cookies, fresh fruits and vegetables and anything the food bank has as surplus.
We have just received a donation from Crystal Gates through the Egg Nutrition Center. While at their exhibit in Denver, Colorado, Crystal regisgtered for “eggs for a year” and a $400 donation to a local food pantry. M. I. Lewis was the lucky recipient of the $400 for our food pantry. WAY TO GO, CRYSTAL AND THANK YOU!!!!
