DISD WAVE PROGRAM

Several community partnerships are playing an important part in teaching students in the Woven Academics Vocational Education program at Dickinson High School essential life skills to prepare them for life after high school.

Through community-based instruction, the students learn to interact in the community by volunteering and visiting several different places.

The class has a regular partnership with the M.I. Lewis Social Service Center where they volunteer every Friday morning, but also learn important life skills. At M.I. Lewis, the students help in several different ways learning to sort and check for expiration dates on canned goods, assist with packaging items and drinks and clip coupons correctly.

The partnership with M.I. Lewis and DISD Wave program is a special partnership. The work the youth do at M.I. Lewis is valuable not only to the community but to them.

Thank you DISD Wave Program!
